Happy!

Episode 28

Please join Dennis, Johnny, and Frances in this episode of Graphic Novel Explorers Club as they discuss Happy! by writer Grant Morrison and artist Darick Robertson. Happy! is the story of a Nick Sax, a dirtbag cop who is asked to help find a missing girl by tiny blue horse named Happy.

First, the gang discusses the book recalling memories of Preacher and Jinx (from Season One). Next, they look at the problem of the “password”. Finally, they decide how to correctly pronounce one of the character’s name. Other topics include who the gang dubbed “Irish Name”; if a mob hospital only has sick mob members or if non-mob members can be seen; the Sophie’s Choice of a fart or a turd; the connecting between Hailey, the missing little girl, and Nick Sax; the number of scuzzy Santas that populate the world of Happy!; the connections between mob boss Mr. Blue, Nick Sax, and “Irish Name”; if Happy is real or not; the use of blue throughout the book; and our opinions about the storying telling and the art of Happy!.
